Blogging Break for the New Dr. Chief Architect
This spring, I successfully defended my PhD dissertation and was promoted to Chef Architect in The Digital Taskforce in the Danish Ministry of Finance.
Two large projects this fall in the Ministry of Finance will require a blogging break for me. But, I will be back – and I will continue to update my list of publication and links on this website in general.
Ciao to you all... See you here again soon :-))

Dinner with Dr. Bernard
I have just returned from a great dinner with Dr. Scott Bernard. Scott is the editor for JEA and founder of a|EA International, and he has become a good friend and colleague of mine.
We discussed my research and EA in Denmark. We also discussed how EA can provide structure to the business of government and component-based IT-architectures. Scott’s great EA-book and his forthcoming book on Coherency Management are must reads for all enterprise architects.

Eating My Own Dog Food
The next couple of years I will be eating my own dog food in the Danish Ministry of Finance. Next week I will start a new job as enterprise architect in the national Digital Task Force. The Task Force assists the Danish national steering committee of joint cross-government co-operations in carrying out the adopted e-government projects, and it prepares the basis of the decision-making on the background of cooperation with the involved parties.
My job there will be too give (EA) input too the national e-government strategy and assist different projects with concrete IT/EA architectural thinking. It will be a huge and exiting challenge too be part of the “real” work in the Ministry of Finance - and too see how/if my thoughts will influence the national EA work. Communicating the value of EA will be one of my key challenges. I have spent the last couple of years preaching how fantastic a tool EA is. The interesting question will be: Will the dog eat the dog food? I will try too keep you all posted…

Congratulations to Ole!
Tuesday this week, my good friend and PhD-colleague Ole Jørgensen defended his M.Sc. thesis. He got the best grade possible (11! – se more about the Danish grading system here) and we are therefore all very proud of him.
If you are interested in the economic uncertainty and structural reforms in the European Union – which is a really a hot topic in the Danish election right now – you can read more about Ole's PhD-project on the website of Centre for Economic and Business Research (CEBR) or you can go directly to his website.
